Vote For Big D's

My Bio

Why I’m Running for Mayor Over the past several years, I have watched taxes continue to rise while important road projects have gone unfinished or taken far too long to complete. I have also attended and watched public meetings where residents have expressed concerns, asked questions, and walked away feeling as though their voices were not truly heard. That needs to change. Public meetings should be more than a requirement on a calendar. They should be an opportunity for residents to participate in their government. People should be able to ask questions, express concerns, offer ideas, and respectfully disagree while knowing their elected officials are listening. We may not always agree, but people deserve to feel heard. I also believe someone must be accountable for the administration of our city. When information is requested from a service provider and it is not provided, the response should not simply be to defend the situation or ignore it. We should ask questions, expect answers, and follow through. Accountability builds trust, and trust is essential in local government. I believe taxpayer dollars should be managed carefully. Major purchases should be planned and included in the budget whenever possible. The people of our community are not an open checkbook. Too often we hear, “It will only cost about $100.” But $100 here, another $100 there, and additional expenses somewhere else eventually become thousands of dollars. Every dollar matters because every dollar ultimately comes from the taxpayers. I also believe our city staff has been asked to carry a lot of responsibility. Good employees need good correspondence, and leadership. They deserve support, clear expectations, proper resources, and direction so they can do their jobs effectively. Most importantly, I believe the people deserve a stronger voice in their city government. Whether someone agrees with me or disagrees with me, I want them to know they have the right to be heard and that their concerns will be taken seriously. I don’t claim to have all the answers. What I do promise is that I will listen, communicate honestly, ask questions, look for practical solutions, and work with people instead of against them. I know what it is like to work hard for every dollar, and I believe every tax dollar deserves that same level of respect. I am not running because I believe Baldwin needs to be torn apart and rebuilt. I am running because I believe we can do better: better communication, greater accountability, responsible spending, completion of projects, new ideas, and leadership that puts people first. But change does not happen simply because we talk about wanting something different. If you want a change, you have to vote for someone different. I believe Baldwin can communicate better, spend smarter, finish what we start, listen more closely to its residents, and bring new ideas to the table. If you would like this? I am asking for your vote. Vote Cooper for Mayor. People First. Open Government. Smart Spending. A Stronger Baldwin.

My Key Issues

Communication

Improve communication between City Hall and residents so people know what is happening and why.

Accountability

Create clear responsibility for city decisions, projects, spending, and results. Projects like roads and structures.

Responsible Spending

Protect taxpayer dollars through better budgeting, planning, and review of city expenditures.

Long-Term Planning

Plan for Baldwin’s future instead of continually reacting to problems after they occur.

Taxes

Look for practical ways to control costs and reduce unnecessary pressure on taxpayers.

Open Government

Make city government more accessible, transparent, professional, and responsive to residents.
